Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Greater London Social Services. Working across the community with the London Borough of Bromley, this role focuses on delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for Children’s Adaptations, supporting children and young people to live safely and independently within their home environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with a strong Adult Social Care background who is looking to develop or utilise their skills within children’s services. Paediatric experience is desirable but not essential, as candidates with substantial Adult Social Care experience and knowledge of equipment and adaptations are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people requiring specialist equipment and home adaptations.
- Assess functional abilities, environmental barriers, and family needs to identify appropriate intervention plans.
- Recommend minor and major adaptations to enable children to live safely and access their home environment more independently.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and specifications to support adaptation and equipment provision.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, schools, housing providers, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Provide specialist advice on equipment, accessibility, and environmental adaptations.
- Support families throughout the assessment and adaptation process, ensuring person-centred outcomes.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and assessment documentation in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while managing an independent community caseload.
- Contribute to delivering a high-quality Children’s Occupational Therapy service.
About You
You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience in Adult Social Care, community Occupational Therapy, or housing adaptations. While previous paediatric experience is advantageous, it is not essential for this role if you have a strong background in equipment provision, functional assessment, and environmental adaptations.
You will possess excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills and be committed to delivering person-centred interventions that improve independence and quality of life for children and their families.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Strong Adult Social Care or Community Occupational Therapy experience.
- Experience completing functional assessments and recommending specialist equipment and adaptations.
- Knowledge of housing adaptations and accessible environments.
- Paediatric Occupational Therapy experience is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to manage an independent community caseload.
