This is an excellent opportunity for a Mental Health Occupational Therapist with community experience who enjoys working autonomously while supporting junior colleagues within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and other evidence-based assessment tools.
  • Develop and implement person-centred intervention plans that promote recovery, independence, wellbeing, and social inclusion.
  • Deliver individual and group Occupational Therapy interventions tailored to service users’ goals and recovery journeys.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to support integrated care planning.
  • Support the team’s duty rota, responding appropriately to referrals and urgent clinical needs.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to junior Occupational Therapy staff and students where appropriate.
  • Produce high-quality Occupational Therapy reports, assessments, and clinical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, families, health professionals, and partner agencies to deliver coordinated care.
  • Contribute to service development and the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused community mental health services.

About You

You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working within community mental health services, supporting adults with severe and enduring mental illness. You will be confident managing a complex caseload, facilitating therapeutic groups, and applying recovery-focused practice using MOHO.

You will possess excellent assessment, communication, report writing, and clinical reasoning skills, together with experience supervising junior staff and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working with adults experiencing severe and enduring mental illness.
  • Experience within Community Mental Health or Recovery Services.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
  • Experience delivering both individual and group Occupational Therapy interventions.
