Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North West London NHS. Based at Northwick Park Hospital, part of London North West University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, this role offers the opportunity to work within a busy acute hospital environment, supporting patients through assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with acute NHS experience who thrives in a fast-paced multidisciplinary setting. You will assess patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, neurological, and orthopaedic conditions, delivering evidence-based interventions that promote independence, facilitate safe discharge, and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for patients within an acute hospital setting.
• Develop and deliver person-centred rehabilitation programmes to maximise functional independence.
• Assess patients’ physical, cognitive, perceptual, and functional abilities to support clinical decision-making.
• Plan and coordinate safe, timely, and effective hospital discharges.
• Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment, assistive technology, and environmental adaptations where required.
• Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, Physiotherapists, social workers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Provide education and advice to patients, carers, and families to support ongoing rehabilitation and recovery.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Prioritise and manage a varied acute caseload while working effectively under pressure.
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with previous experience working within an acute NHS hospital. You will be confident managing complex caseloads, delivering effective rehabilitation, and supporting patients through every stage of their inpatient journey.

You will possess excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills, together with a proactive approach to multidisciplinary working and patient-centred care.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous acute NHS Occupational Therapy experience is essential.
• Strong assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning skills.
• Experience managing a varied inpatient caseload.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced acute environment.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
