Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North West London NHS. Based at Wood End Clinic, Hayes with Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, this role provides specialist Occupational Therapy services for children and young people with a wide range of developmental, physical, sensory, and functional needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) attending out-of-borough schools.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Paediatric Occupational Therapist to deliver specialist assessments, intervention programmes, and advice that enable children and young people to achieve their full potential. Working closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary professionals, you will play a key role in improving outcomes through evidence-based, child-centred practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people with a range of occupational therapy needs.
• Deliver services for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including those attending out-of-borough schools.
• Complete comprehensive assessments, clinical formulation, and individualised therapy programmes to maximise functional outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies to support children’s development and participation.
• Develop and deliver training for school staff, parents, and professionals to support the implementation of Occupational Therapy recommendations.
• Ensure safeguarding remains central to all aspects of clinical practice and service delivery.
• Contribute to achieving service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), quality standards, and positive patient outcomes.
• Support the development, supervision, and competency of junior Occupational Therapists, assistants, volunteers, and other identified team members.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development projects.
• Provide mentoring, buddying, and shadowing opportunities for less experienced colleagues.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working within paediatric services. You will have excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills, together with a strong understanding of child development, family-centred practice, and multidisciplinary working.

You will be passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people, confident providing specialist advice to schools and families, and committed to supporting service development and the ongoing professional growth of colleagues.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Relevant experience working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist.
• Experience completing specialist paediatric assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions.
• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and working within educational settings.
• Experience delivering training and advice to schools, parents, and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding children and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Experience supporting junior staff, students, or assistants is desirable.
• Commitment to clinical governance, audit, and continuous service improvement.
