Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North East London NHS. Based with NELFT Redbridge, this role is part of the Integrated Health Team, providing specialist community rehabilitation for adults following a stroke.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with community stroke rehabilitation experience to support patients in achieving maximum independence following discharge. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based rehabilitation, complete comprehensive assessments, and develop personalised treatment plans that promote recovery and improve quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a specialist caseload of adults requiring community-based Occupational Therapy following a stroke.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of functional, cognitive, physical, and environmental needs.
- Develop and implement evidence-based, person-centred rehabilitation programmes.
- Apply current stroke rehabilitation guidelines to deliver high-quality community interventions.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve patient-centred rehabilitation goals.
- Assess and prescribe appropriate equipment and assistive technology to maximise independence and improve quality of life.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers throughout the rehabilitation process.
- Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans in response to changing clinical needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality Integrated Health Team services across the borough.
About You
You will be an experienced HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community rehabilitation and stroke management. You will be confident managing complex caseloads independently while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding patient-centred care.
You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to evidence-based practice and improving outcomes for people recovering from stroke.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Relevant UK NHS community Occupational Therapy experience.
- Experience delivering community rehabilitation for patients following a stroke.
- Strong understanding of current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
- Experience assessing and prescribing equipment and assistive technology.
- Excellent assessment, rehabilitation, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
