Based with the Royal Borough of Greenwich, this strategic leadership role has been created to provide transitional oversight following a significant reorganisation of Adult Social Care services.

Suitable for an experienced Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or other Allied Health Professional, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014 continue to be delivered while driving lasting culture change across Adult Social Care. You will work closely with senior leaders, managers and frontline teams to embed strengths-based practice, develop leadership capability, improve professional standards and support the transition to a neighbourhood-based model of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and transitional oversight following service reorganisation.
  • Champion a values-driven culture that places people at the centre of service delivery.
  • Embed strengths-based, person-centred and outcome-focused practice across Adult Social Care.
  • Support managers to lead behavioural, cultural and practice change within their teams.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and reflective supervision to strengthen professional practice and leadership.
  • Develop workforce capability in strengths-based assessment, support planning and professional decision-making.
  • Support the implementation of neighbourhood and locality-based working models.
  • Strengthen partnership working across health, housing, voluntary organisations and community services.
  • Promote co-production and community asset-based approaches to improving outcomes.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of statutory duties under the Care Act 2014.
  • Provide oversight of quality assurance, performance management and risk.
  • Promote prevention, independence and positive risk-taking throughout service delivery.
  • Use performance data to inform decision-making, service improvement and resource deployment.
  • Contribute to ongoing service transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You will be an experienced senior leader within Adult Social Care, with a proven track record of leading service transformation, workforce development and culture change. You will be passionate about embedding strengths-based practice and developing confident, resilient teams that deliver outstanding outcomes for adults and their communities.

You will have excellent leadership, coaching and influencing skills, together with extensive knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and experience working collaboratively across complex partnerships.

Requirements

  • Professional registration as an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or other Allied Health Professional.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Care Act 2014, including wellbeing, prevention and safeguarding duties.
  • Significant senior management experience within Adult Social Care or a related service.
  • Demonstrable experience leading organisational culture change and service transformation.
  • Strong understanding of strengths-based practice and neighbourhood/locality models.
  • Experience developing workforce capability through coaching, mentoring and reflective practice.

  • Experience working collaboratively across health, housing, voluntary sector and community partners.
  • Experience overseeing quality, performance and risk management.
  • Experience using performance data to support service improvement and effective resource deployment.
  • Experience of hospital discharge services.
  • Experience working alongside people with lived experience and elected members.
