Occupational Therapist – Adaptations
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated Adult Social Care service within North East Social Services. This locum opportunity focuses on delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and recommending adaptations that enable adults to live safely and independently in their own homes.
You will work with individuals who have a range of physical disabilities, long-term health conditions and complex needs, carrying out person-centred assessments and identifying practical solutions that improve accessibility, reduce risk and promote independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for adults with a range of physical and functional needs.
- Assess for and recommend minor and major adaptations to support independent living.
- Work closely with service users, carers, housing providers and partner agencies to deliver effective adaptation solutions.
- Provide recommendations for specialist equipment and moving and handling interventions where appropriate.
- Develop person-centred support plans that promote safety, wellbeing and independence.
- Manage and prioritise a varied caseload while meeting service deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and produce clear assessment reports in line with professional standards.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
About You
You will be a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist with strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills. You will have a good understanding of housing adaptations and be committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred services that enable people to remain independent within their own homes.
Requirements
- Professional Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by the HCPC.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Adult Social Care or community occupational therapy services.
- Knowledge of assessing for minor and major adaptations.
- Experience recommending specialist equipment and moving and handling solutions.
- Understanding of relevant adult social care legislation and person-centred practice.
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload effectively.
