Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a part-time locum opportunity within South West Social Services. Based with Cornwall Council, this community-based role supports adults to maximise their independence through high-quality Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions delivered in their own homes across West Cornwall.
This rewarding role involves working with individuals living in both urban and remote rural communities, including areas such as the Lizard Peninsula. You will undertake comprehensive assessments, develop person-centred intervention plans, and work collaboratively with health and social care professionals to promote independence, safety, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments within service users’ homes and community settings.
- Assess functional ability and identify interventions that promote independence and reduce risk.
- Develop person-centred care and rehabilitation plans tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment, assistive technology, and minor or major adaptations where required.
- Provide advice and support to individuals, families, and carers to maximise independent living.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, health professionals, and partner agencies.
- Manage a varied community caseload across West Cornwall, including travel to remote rural locations.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical records and documentation.
- Promote strengths-based practice and contribute to positive outcomes for adults within the community.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community practice, Adult Social Care, or physical rehabilitation. You will be confident working independently, managing your own caseload, and travelling throughout the community to deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy services.
You will have excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills, together with a commitment to delivering person-centred care that enables people to remain safe and independent in their own homes.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience working as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist.
- Experience within physical health, community rehabilitation, or Adult Social Care.
- Strong knowledge of community Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention.
- Excellent clinical reasoning, report-writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a community caseload.
- Ability to travel to service users’ homes, including remote rural areas across West Cornwall.
