Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Surrey NHS. Based at Green Wrythe Lane, part of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, this role sits within the Children’s Therapies Service, supporting children and young people with a range of developmental, sensory, and physical needs.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated paediatric therapy team, providing specialist assessments, treatment, and reviews for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing difficulties, physical disabilities, and other developmental conditions. You will work closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality, child-centred care that promotes independence and participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for children referred to the Children’s Therapies Service.
  • Manage a caseload of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing difficulties, physical disabilities, and other developmental needs.
  • Carry out assessment and review appointments within the paediatric clinic setting.
  • Develop personalised treatment programmes and review progress against agreed goals.
  • Produce high-quality clinical reports, therapy programmes, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using the EMIS electronic patient record system.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to coordinated care planning.
  • Provide advice, education, and support to families and professionals to maximise children’s independence and participation.
  • Deliver evidence-based, child-centred Occupational Therapy interventions in line with HCPC and NHS standards.

About You

You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong background in assessing and treating children with developmental, sensory, and physical disabilities. You will be passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will possess excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, families, education providers, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within a paediatric clinic or children’s therapy service.
  • Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Experience working with children with sensory processing difficulties.
  • Experience supporting children with physical disabilities.
  • Competence in completing paediatric assessments, reports, and therapy programmes.
  • Experience using the EMIS clinical system is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
