Community Occupational Therapist

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Community Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North West Social Services. Working with Cheshire East Council, this community-based role covers the areas of Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Disley, High Legh, and Knutsford, supporting both adults and children to maximise independence through specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.

This varied role involves undertaking community visits, completing assessments for moving and handling, Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs), Blue Badge applications, and equipment provision. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team while enjoying flexibility in how your workload is managed, with attendance at the office required for team meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for adults and children within community settings.
  • Carry out specialist moving and handling assessments and provide safe, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Assess for and recommend minor and major adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
  • Complete Blue Badge assessments in accordance with national guidance and local policy.
  • Recommend and arrange appropriate specialist equipment and assistive technology to maximise independence.
  • Work closely with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies to develop person-centred solutions.
  • Manage a varied community caseload, prioritising assessments and interventions effectively.
  • Attend home visits, multidisciplinary meetings, and office-based team meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
  • Contribute to collaborative multidisciplinary working and support positive outcomes for service users.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong community practice skills and experience working with both adults and children. You will be confident carrying out complex moving and handling assessments, recommending adaptations, and supporting people to remain independent within their own homes.

You will be an excellent team player with strong communication and organisational skills, capable of working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative service.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within Community Occupational Therapy or Adult/Children’s Social Care.
  • Experience completing moving and handling assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
  • Experience undertaking Blue Badge assessments.
  • Experience supporting both adults and children.
  • Up-to-date Moving and Handling training.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
