Occupational Therapist (Part Time)

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a flexible part-time locum opportunity within South West London Social Services. Working with the London Borough of Richmond and Wandsworth, this role focuses on managing complex Occupational Therapy cases, with an emphasis on moving and handling assessments and major housing adaptations.

This is a predominantly remote position, offering excellent flexibility while requiring home visits to clients across the borough as needed. The successful candidate will work independently, managing complex assessments from initial referral through to case completion, helping adults to remain safe and independent within their own homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of complex Occupational Therapy assessments from referral through to case closure.
  • Undertake comprehensive moving and handling (M&H) assessments within service users’ homes.
  • Assess for and recommend major housing adaptations to promote independence and reduce risk.
  • Prepare detailed recommendations and specifications for major adaptation works.
  • Provide specialist advice on complex manual handling techniques and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, surveyors, housing teams, contractors, and partner agencies.
  • Complete home visits across the borough as required to undertake assessments.
  • Maintain accurate case records and professional documentation in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
  • Manage your workload autonomously while delivering high-quality, person-centred Occupational Therapy services.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with significant experience managing complex Adult Social Care cases involving moving and handling and major adaptations. You will be confident working independently, balancing remote working with community visits, and delivering timely, high-quality assessments.

Excellent clinical reasoning, report writing, and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to build positive working relationships with service users and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Significant Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Extensive experience completing complex moving and handling assessments.
  • Experience assessing for and recommending major housing adaptations.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment provision and risk assessment.
  • Excellent assessment, report-writing, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage cases remotely.
  • Ability to undertake home visits across the borough.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Occupational Therapist (Part Time)
  • Sector: South West London Social Services
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Working Pattern: Part-time, minimum of three weekdays per week
  • Working Arrangement: Predominantly remote with home visits across the borough
  • Rate: £30 per hour, paid per completed case
  • Payment Structure: Up to 12 hours (£360) can be claimed for each completed and closed case
  • Location: London Borough of Richmond and Wandsworth
