Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within South East London NHS. Based across The Mary Sheridan Centre and Sunshine House, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, this role will support the Children’s Community Occupational Therapy Service, delivering specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with a wide range of developmental and neurological conditions.
The successful candidate will manage a specialist paediatric caseload, providing evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions aimed at maximising participation, independence, and functional outcomes for children and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake advanced occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with a range of developmental, physical, and neurological conditions.
- Manage an independent caseload within a defined area of the Children’s Community Occupational Therapy Service.
- Formulate and deliver evidence-based occupational therapy treatment programmes.
- Use advanced clinical reasoning and assessment skills to identify individual needs and goals.
- Provide interventions that support participation in daily activities, education, play, and self-care.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, schools, health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor, evaluate, and adapt treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to parents, carers, and educational staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with NHS and HCPC standards.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.
About You
You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
community paediatrics and neurological conditions. You will be confident managing a specialist caseload independently and delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions.
You will possess excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary working skills, with a passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within paediatric occupational therapy services.
- Experience assessing and treating children with neurological and developmental conditions.
- Strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice skills.
- Ability to manage a specialist caseload independently.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working abilities.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (essential).
Contract & Salary
- Role: Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 6

- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
