Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within South West London Social Services. Based with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, this role focuses on supporting adults to remain safe, independent, and engaged within their home environments through the provision of equipment, minor and major adaptations, and person-centred occupational therapy interventions.
The successful candidate will undertake assessments, identify functional needs, and recommend practical solutions to enhance independence and reduce risks within the home. This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with experience in housing adaptations, equipment provision, and adult social care.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake occupational therapy assessments for adults with a range of physical disabilities and long-term conditions.
- Assess functional abilities and identify barriers to independent living.
- Recommend and arrange the provision of specialist equipment to meet assessed needs.
- Assess for and coordinate minor and major home adaptations.
- Provide advice and guidance to service users, carers, and families.
- Work collaboratively with housing teams, contractors, healthcare professionals, and other partner agencies.
- Develop person-centred intervention plans that promote independence and safety.
- Maintain accurate assessments, reports, and case records in line with professional standards.
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of equipment and adaptations provided.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a background in adult social care, housing adaptations, and equipment provision. You will have strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills and be confident managing a community-based caseload.
You will be committed to delivering strengths-based, person-centred practice and supporting individuals to achieve the highest possible level of independence within their own homes.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Adult Social Care services.
- Experience assessing for major and minor adaptations.
- Experience prescribing and reviewing specialist equipment.
- Knowledge of housing adaptations processes and relevant legislation.
- Strong assessment, report-writing, and case management skills.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working abilities.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
