Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North London Social Services. Based with the London Borough of Barnet, this role focuses on supporting children and young people with disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence, safety, and participation within their home and community environments.

The successful candidate will undertake assessments and interventions for children with disabilities, working closely with families, carers, education providers, and multidisciplinary professionals to identify and implement effective support solutions. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement and requires experience working specifically with children rather than adult services.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with disabilities.
• Identify functional needs and develop person-centred intervention plans.
• Assess for and recommend specialist equipment, adaptations, and support solutions to maximise independence and safety.
• Work closely with families, carers, schools, and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Provide advice, guidance, and support regarding daily living activities and participation.
• Monitor and review interventions to ensure they continue to meet assessed needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority and professional standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and collaborative service delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in 
children’s disability services. You will have experience assessing and supporting children and young people with a range of physical, developmental, and functional needs.

You will demonstrate excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to deliver effective, child-centred interventions.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Essential experience working with children with disabilities.
• Experience within children’s occupational therapy or children’s social care services.
• Knowledge of equipment provision and adaptations for children desirable.
• Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work autonomously.
• Commitment to delivering child-centred and family-focused practice.
