Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 5 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within South East London NHS. Based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, this role offers the opportunity to work within the Emergency Department (ED), supporting patients in a fast-paced acute care environment.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients within the Emergency Department, undertaking occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support timely decision-making, patient flow, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of patients within the Emergency Department.
- Undertake occupational therapy assessments in a fast-paced acute setting.
- Identify functional needs and risks that may impact discharge planning.
- Provide timely interventions to support safe discharge and prevent unnecessary admissions.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate patient-centred care.
- Support rehabilitation and independence-focused interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with NHS standards.
- Contribute to effective patient flow and service delivery within the Emergency Department.
About You
You will be a motivated Occupational Therapist with experience working within
NHS or acute healthcare settings. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be confident managing a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of patient care.
You will possess excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills, enabling you to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and support positive patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within NHS or acute healthcare settings desirable.
- Ability to manage a patient caseload independently.
- Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a busy Emergency Department environment.
