Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 5 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within North West London NHS. This position is based within a treatment ward setting, providing specialist occupational therapy support to individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs.

The Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), delivering evidence-based assessments and interventions using recovery-focused and trauma-informed approaches to support service users in achieving meaningful functional outcomes and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and evaluation within the treatment ward MDT.
• Deliver both individual and group occupational therapy interventions.
• Utilise MOHO evidence-based assessment tools to complete functional assessments.
• Develop recommendations and treatment plans to support optimum functioning and recovery.
• Manage a caseload of service users with complex, severe, and enduring mental health needs.
• Apply evidence-based practice, recovery principles, and trauma-informed approaches to care delivery.
• Support service users to improve quality of life and engage in meaningful occupations.
• Provide advice regarding lifestyle adaptations, environmental changes, and equipment provision.
• Establish links with acute and community mental health occupational therapy teams to support continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and RCOT standards.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with experience or a strong interest in 
mental health occupational therapy. You will demonstrate excellent communication and 
clinical reasoning skills alongside a compassionate, recovery-focused approach to care.

You will be confident working within multidisciplinary environments and supporting individuals with complex 
mental health needs to achieve improved independence and wellbeing.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Knowledge of mental health occupational therapy practice.
• Understanding of recovery-focused and trauma-informed approaches.
• Experience using MOHO assessment tools desirable.
• Ability to manage caseloads and work effectively within MDT settings.
• Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Knowledge of RCOT professional standards and ethics.

Contract & Salary

• Role: Occupational Therapist – Band 5
• Sector: North West London NHS
• Contract Type: Locum
• Contract Length: 6 weeks initially
• Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Salary: Negotiable
