Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within South West London NHS. This position is based within the Medical Rehabilitation Service at West Middlesex University Hospital, supporting patients across gastroenterology, endocrine, elderly care, and frailty wards.

The Occupational Therapist will manage complex rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients within acute medical settings, including patients transferred from major trauma units. This role requires a proactive and adaptable clinician who can work autonomously within fast-paced ward environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention across medical rehabilitation wards.
• Manage rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients with complex needs.
• Work across gastroenterology, endocrine, elderly care, and frailty services.
• Support rehabilitation of patients transferred from major trauma units.
• Develop and implement person-centred treatment and discharge plans.
• Work autonomously within busy acute hospital environments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe discharge pathways.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Work flexibly across different clinical areas as required.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in 
acute medicine and rehabilitation services. You will demonstrate excellent discharge 
planning skills and the ability to manage complex caseloads independently within fast-paced clinical settings.

You will be adaptable, organised, and confident working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to 
deliver high-quality patient-centred rehabilitation and discharge outcomes.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience within acute medicine or medical rehabilitation services.
• Strong discharge planning and rehabilitation experience.
• Experience managing complex patient caseloads.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Experience within gastroenterology, frailty, elderly care, or trauma rehabilitation desirable.

Contract & Salary

• Role: Occupational Therapist – Band 6
• Sector: South West London NHS
• Contract Type: Locum
• Contract Length: 3 months initially
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday
• Salary: Negotiable
