Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting a Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum role within West Midlands Social Care. This position focuses on supporting children and young people with a range of needs, delivering assessments and interventions within the home and community.
The Occupational Therapist will assess functional needs, recommend equipment and adaptations, and support families to improve independence and daily living outcomes. The role involves working collaboratively with partner organisations including health services, education settings, and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments and reviews within home and community environments.
- Assess and recommend standard and specialist equipment to support independence.
- Assess for and facilitate minor and major adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
- Undertake manual handling and risk assessments.
- Provide advice, guidance, and signposting to families and carers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including NHS services, schools, and Child Development Centres.
- Support the implementation of tailored intervention plans for children and young people.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements.
About You
You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
children’s social care or community services. You will demonstrate sound clinical
reasoning and the ability to manage complex cases involving equipment and adaptations.
You will be confident working independently in community settings while maintaining effective
collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working as a paediatric Occupational Therapist.
- Strong knowledge of equipment provision and home adaptations, including DFG.
- Experience undertaking manual handling and risk assessments.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
