Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within South West London NHS. This position sits within Respiratory Medicine services, supporting patients across a range of acute wards including ICU, respiratory, cardiology, enhanced care, and surgical settings.

The Occupational Therapist will play a key role in supporting patients with complex rehabilitation needs, particularly those stepping down from ICU. The role focuses on functional assessment, discharge planning, and delivering rehabilitation interventions that promote independence and safe transition from hospital to community settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out occupational therapy assessments across ICU, respiratory, cardiology, enhanced care, and surgical wards.
• Support complex rehabilitation for patients, including post-ICU step-down cases.
• Develop and implement treatment plans to improve functional independence.
• Lead and contribute to effective discharge planning processes.
• Work autonomously within a fast-paced acute environment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.

About You

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within acute hospital 
settings. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to manage complex rehabilitation 
cases, particularly those involving respiratory or post-ICU patients.

You will be confident working independently under pressure and contributing to discharge planning processes 
to ensure safe and timely patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience working within acute hospital settings.
• Experience supporting discharge planning and complex rehabilitation.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

Contract & Salary

• Role: Occupational Therapist – Band 6
• Sector: South West London NHS
• Contract Type: Locum
• Contract Length: Initially 3 months
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday
• Salary: Negotiable
