Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Suffolk Social Services. This position focuses on supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs, delivering occupational therapy assessments and reviews that promote independence and ensure safe and effective care arrangements.
The Occupational Therapist will undertake proactive assessments and reviews across the service, helping to manage waiting lists and ensure timely delivery of occupational therapy support. The role involves reviewing care packages, advising on equipment and moving and handling practices, and working collaboratively with care providers and multidisciplinary teams to support individuals within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments and reviews across adult social care services.
- Support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs.
- Contribute to the reduction of occupational therapy waiting lists through proactive reviews and assessments.
- Review care packages to ensure appropriate support and best use of available resources.
- Assess moving and handling needs and provide guidance to external care providers.
- Support triage processes and reduce duplication between health and social care services.
- Review care arrangements including double-handed care, waking night provision, and existing packages of care.
- Provide mutual aid to other occupational therapy service areas where required.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with statutory responsibilities and local procedures.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within adult social care services.
You will demonstrate strong assessment and review skills, particularly when supporting individuals with complex needs such
as learning disabilities, autism, or mental health conditions.
You will also be confident advising on moving and handling practices and equipment provision while working collaboratively
with care providers and multidisciplinary teams to support safe and effective care arrangements.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working within adult social care occupational therapy services.
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs.
- Manual handling assessment experience.
- Ability to undertake reviews of care packages and equipment provision.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.

- Contract Length: Initially 6 months
- Working Pattern: Hybrid working – approximately 2–3 days office-based and 2 days working from home
- Salary: £35 per hour (umbrella)
