Job details: Occupational Therapist required to provide short-term cover within the Reablement Team. The post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy services to adults with care and support needs, supporting their independence and wellbeing in the community.
- Undertake occupational therapy assessments, care planning, and reviews to promote personal independence and daily living skills.
- Advise, teach, and support individuals and carers in overcoming disability and maximising independence.
- Recommend and provide standard and specialist equipment and advise on adaptations to clients’ homes.
- Liaise with colleagues in health, social care, and partner agencies to ensure coordinated, multi-disciplinary support.
- Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Assistants and students as required.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, professional standards, and Council policies.
- Commit to safeguarding adults and upholding the Council’s Equality Policy.
Skills/experience: Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent, recognised by WFOT). Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Experience in a health or social care community setting. Ability to manage a demanding and unpredictable caseload, prioritising effectively. Strong communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel within Southampton.
