Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within
Yorkshire Collaboration – Kirklees, supporting Yorkshire Social Services. This role sits within a
supportive Occupational Therapy team delivering social care assessments and interventions that promote independence, wellbeing,
and safe living within the community.

In this Social Care Occupational Therapist job in Kirklees, you will assess individuals’ needs under the
Care Act and relevant Disabled Facilities Grant legislation, working closely with service users
and their carers to identify solutions that support independence and quality of life. The position forms part of a
12-month transformation project, requiring flexible working and collaborative practice across the service.

This opportunity is suited to an experienced HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong understanding of

outcome-focused support for adults in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out occupational therapy assessments in line with the Care Act and Disabled Facilities Grant legislation.
  • Analyse physiological, psychological, environmental, and social needs to identify appropriate interventions.
  • Work with clients and carers to co-produce outcome-focused support plans that promote wellbeing, dignity, and independence.
  • Manage a caseload of service users, supporting individuals to develop and sustain independent living skills.
  • Identify risks within complex situations and implement interventions to support safe living in the community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across social care services to deliver coordinated and person-centred support.
  • Ensure effective use of time and resources when managing assigned cases.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with local authority standards.

About You

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within social care services, particularly
in assessing needs under the Care Act and supporting adaptations or interventions that enable people to live independently.
You will be confident working collaboratively with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop
practical solutions that improve daily living outcomes.

A strong understanding of strength-based practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied caseload
will be important for success in this role. Experience working within local authority services or community occupational
therapy teams will be beneficial.

Requirements

  • Recognised degree or qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
