Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 6 / Band 7

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6 or Band 7) for a locum opportunity within
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, working across The Mary Sheridan Centre and
Sunshine House in South East London. This role sits within a children’s community therapies service,
supporting children and young people to develop the functional skills needed for everyday activities, independence, and participation
in home, school, and community life.

As a Community Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will assess children’s functional abilities, identify areas where
support is required, and implement therapy programmes that promote development and independence. Working within a multidisciplinary
team, you will collaborate with families, schools, and healthcare professionals to deliver effective, child-centred occupational therapy
interventions within community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people within a community paediatric service.
  • Evaluate functional abilities including fine motor skills, sensory processing, daily living skills, and participation in school or home activities.
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy plans that support children’s independence and engagement in daily routines.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care and support.
  • Provide advice, strategies, and recommendations to support children’s development in home, education, and community environments.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and therapy records in line with NHS standards.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and collaborative care planning with other health and education professionals.

About You

You will be a motivated and compassionate Paediatric Occupational Therapist with experience supporting children in
community or healthcare settings. You will be confident working collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to
deliver effective therapy interventions that promote independence and wellbeing.

Strong communication skills, a child-centred approach, and the ability to manage a varied caseload are important for success in this
role. Experience within children’s community therapy services or paediatric occupational therapy settings will be beneficial.

Requirements

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration (essential).
  • Experience in paediatric occupational therapy or children’s community therapy services.
  • Ability to assess functional needs and implement therapy programmes for children and young people.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Driving licence desirable but not essential.
