Job Details:
- Senior Occupational Therapist required to assess adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities.
- Promote independence, social inclusion and safe care to enable individuals to remain in their own homes.
- Carry out assessments for aids to daily living, major and minor adaptations, and manual handling needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of equipment, adaptations and interventions.
- Support discharge prevention and reduce reliance on care packages.
- Work within a patch-based system, liaising closely with primary care teams, GPs and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Collaborate with NHS colleagues, social services, council departments and voluntary organisations.
- Contribute to fieldwork education and support or supervise students where required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Undertake complex occupational therapy assessments, interventions and service evaluations.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team, providing advice and support to colleagues.
- Liaise and coordinate with relevant agencies to deliver integrated care.
- Monitor and review the progress of equipment provision and adaptation works.
- Supervise junior staff, students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as delegated.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records using electronic systems.
- Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings and service planning.
- Ensure compliance with council policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
- Adhere to health & safety and equality policies in all aspects of practice.
Skills / Experience:
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
- Experience within adult social care and community settings.
- Experience assessing for equipment, adaptations and moving and handling.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
- Experience supervising or supporting junior staff or students.
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
