Service: CYPS Therapy & Specialist Nursing Services

Job Details:

Two Occupational Therapists (Band 6 or 7) required to support Children and Young People’s Services (CYPS). The roles will support both community and clinic referral pathways within the Occupational Therapy service.

Role 1 – Community Referrals (Community based with some remote working)

  • Complete environmental assessments to support housing reports and minor adaptations.
  • Review equipment provision for children with a range of physical disabilities and complex needs.
  • Apply recommendations from postural management assessments to support appropriate equipment provision.
  • Assess and review moving and handling needs and provide recommendations for equipment and care planning.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, schools and multidisciplinary professionals.

Role 2 – Clinic Referrals (Clinic based with some remote working)

  • Carry out clinic-based or remote assessments for children with learning disabilities or coordination difficulties.
  • Use clinical observation to assess functional difficulties in activities of daily living.
  • Utilise standardised assessment tools where appropriate.
  • Provide clear therapy advice and practical recommendations for use at home and in school settings.
  • Support children and families to improve functional independence and participation.

Skills / Experience:

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children and young people with physical, developmental or learning needs.
  • Knowledge of equipment provision, postural management and moving and handling assessments.
  • Experience completing functional assessments and providing practical recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.

Working Hours: Full time.
