Job Details: Experienced Occupational Therapist required for a Double Handed Care (Moving & Handling) project.

•  
  • Lead on reviewing residents currently receiving double-handed care packages
     

  • Identify opportunities where single-handed care is feasible and safe
     

  • Implement assistive technologies such as hoists, slide sheets and transfer aids
     

  • Provide training to care staff on safe single-handed care techniques
     

  • Monitor and evaluate outcomes to ensure quality, safety and service user satisfaction
     

  • Support residents requiring increased care on discharge from hospital
     

  • Work as part of a 12-month project within Occupational Therapy
     

  • Contribute to training 8 core provider care coordinators/moving and handling risk assessors and 8 core provider agencies, with scope to extend to spot providers

   

  Project Scope:

   

  •  
    • Approximately 250 residents currently receiving double-handed care
       

    • Focus on safe right-sizing of care packages and promoting independence

     

    Skills/Experience Required:

     

    •  
      • Extensive experience in moving and handling assessments
         

      • Strong knowledge of single-handed care techniques and risk assessment
         

      • Experience implementing assistive technology solutions
         

      • Ability to deliver training and support to care providers
