An experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist is required to join a fast-paced acute medical unit at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. This role involves delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning within a busy acute hospital environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician with strong acute NHS experience who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing a varied inpatient caseload.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for patients on an acute medical unit.
- Support safe and timely discharge planning.
- Identify risks and implement appropriate management strategies.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
- Prioritise and manage workload effectively within a fast-paced clinical setting.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Recent acute NHS hospital experience.
- Experience working within acute medical wards.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.
Working Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Standard hours: 08:00 – 16:00
- Longer day patterns may be considered:
- 4 longer days per week
- 3 extended shifts per week
