Brief Job Overview
A Band 6 Occupational Therapist is required to support the Urgent Community Response Service with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. This community-based role focuses on delivering timely occupational therapy interventions to adults living in the London Borough of Southwark, helping to prevent hospital admission and support people safely at home.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering responsive, person-centred occupational therapy within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy interventions within the Urgent Community Response Service.
- Assess functional ability and provide timely interventions to support people in their own homes.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support admission avoidance and safe care at home.
- Contribute to rapid assessment and intervention plans aligned with service priorities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with Trust and professional standards.
- Communicate effectively with service users, carers, and partner professionals.
About You
You will be a confident and adaptable Band 6 Occupational Therapist with experience working autonomously in community or rapid-response settings. You will be comfortable managing a fast-paced workload and contributing positively to a multidisciplinary environment focused on responsive care delivery.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Experience working as an Occupational Therapist at Band 6 level.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Community or urgent response experience is desirable.
Contract & Working Pattern
- Locum contract – ongoing
- Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
- Weekend working optional
- Community-based role covering the London Borough of Southwark
- Competitive rate – £negotiable
