Contract: Locum, Ongoing

About the Role

Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP) – Moving and Handling Team. This is a busy, impactful role supporting both adults and children, helping to enhance independence, reduce risk and improve quality of life for disabled and older residents.

The service provides a comprehensive, coordinated approach to moving and handling, complex equipment provision and major adaptations, with a strong focus on preventing falls, hospital admissions and unnecessary reliance on care services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake moving and handling risk assessments for adults and children.
  • Assess for and recommend complex equipment and major adaptations.
  • Support the provision of appropriate moving and handling solutions to promote independence and safety.
  • Assess eligibility for Blue Badges (parking concessions for people with substantial disabilities).
  • Work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary local authority service.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, families, carers and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to a streamlined, person-centred service.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience in moving and handling, equipment provision and adaptations.
  • Ability to assess complex cases involving both adults and children.
  • Strong communication skills with a wide range of individuals.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (essential car user allowance payable).

A fantastic opportunity to make a real difference within a high-impact local authority service.
