Occupational Therapist – Band 7 (Locum)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, within the North West NHS. This community-based locum role is required to start as soon as possible for an initial period of four weeks, with a strong likelihood of extension. You will deliver specialist community occupational therapy assessments, with a particular focus on major adaptation assessments and supporting adults to live safely and independently in their own homes. A car driver is essential due to the community nature of the role.
Key Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive community-based occupational therapy assessments for adults with functional, environmental, and accessibility needs.
- Assess for and make professional recommendations regarding major housing adaptations to promote independence and safety.
- Work collaboratively with housing teams, social care colleagues, and other health professionals to support effective intervention planning.
- Provide expert advice on equipment, adaptations, and safe moving and handling practices.
- Manage a complex community caseload efficiently and independently.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with professional and NHS standards.
About You
You are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community practice and housing adaptation work. You bring advanced assessment skills, excellent clinical reasoning, and the ability to navigate complex home environments. Your confident, person-centred approach ensures positive outcomes for adults requiring adaptation and environmental support.
Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
- Experience working in community occupational therapy roles.
- Strong experience assessing for major adaptations within home and community settings.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and caseload management skills.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
