Job Overview

We are recruiting a skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Aintree Hospital, within the Merseyside NHS. This locum role is based in an acute inpatient setting, providing occupational therapy input for Trauma and Orthopaedics patients. You will support safe and effective recovery, functional assessment, and discharge planning within a busy and collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

•   
  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for inpatients within Trauma and Orthopaedics.
     

  • Assess functional needs and deliver targeted rehabilitation to support recovery and independence.
     

  • Contribute to timely and coordinated discharge planning, ensuring safe transitions of care.
     

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, nurses, and medical staff.
     

  • Maintain accurate, professional documentation in line with Trust and HCPC standards.
     

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care within a fast-paced acute setting.

   

  About You

  You are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in acute care, ideally with direct experience in trauma and orthopaedics. You bring excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, and you are able to work efficiently within a dynamic inpatient team. Your commitment to rehabilitation and safe discharge planning will ensure positive outcomes for patients.

   

  Requirements

    

  • • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
       

    • Experience working in acute inpatient settings.
       

    • Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics is highly desirable.
       

    • Strong assessment, intervention, and discharge planning skills.
       

    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
       

    • Excellent communication, documentation, and time management abilities.
