Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics (Locum)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the London Borough of Lambeth, within South London Social Services. This locum role focuses on delivering high-quality home-based assessments and reviews for children and young people who require specialist seating, equipment, and major adaptations. You will support families by providing timely, person-centred recommendations that promote safety, comfort, and independence in the home environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Carry out paediatric home assessments and equipment reviews for children and young people.
- Assess for and review specialist seating and other essential home equipment.
- Provide recommendations for major adaptations to support safe and appropriate living environments.
- Work collaboratively with families, social care colleagues, health professionals, and housing teams.
- Develop clear, outcome-focused recommendations and ensure accurate, comprehensive documentation.
- Support children and families through professional advice aimed at promoting independence, accessibility, and wellbeing.
About You
You are a knowledgeable and confident Paediatric Occupational Therapist with strong experience in community-based assessments. You bring specialist skills in equipment provision, seating assessment, and major adaptation recommendations. Your family-centred approach, clinical reasoning, and excellent communication skills allow you to support children and their carers effectively within their home environments.
Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.
- Experience working in paediatric occupational therapy, ideally within social services or community settings.
- Strong experience in specialist seating assessments and equipment provision.
- Ability to assess for and recommend major adaptations in line with legislative and best practice requirements.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to person-centred practice and supporting children’s independence and wellbeing.
Contract & Salary
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.
