Location: Croydon Healthcare Services

Area: South London NHS

Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (initial 4 months)

 

About the Role

 

Croydon Healthcare Services is recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Neurology Team. This role focuses on providing specialist rehabilitation for patients following stroke, supporting their functional recovery and maximising independence. The post holder will work autonomously while receiving supervision from a Band 7 OT.

 

The role involves working across a range of settings including Broad Green Centre, Croydon University Hospital, patients’ homes and wider community environments.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver specialist neurological and stroke rehabilitation interventions as part of the Integrated Neurology Team.
  • Undertake comprehensive functional assessments and develop personalised rehabilitation plans.
  • Support patient recovery across multiple settings including community, clinic and hospital environments.
  • Work autonomously within clinical pathways while receiving guidance from a Band 7 Occupational Therapist.
  • Contribute to safe and effective discharge planning, particularly within acute medicine and elderly care.
  • Apply ward-based respiratory skills as required within acute settings.
  • Assess and prescribe functional equipment to support independence and safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with HCPC and service standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrable acute experience including discharge planning in medicine and elderly care.
  • Ward-based respiratory skills.
  • Experience in stroke rehabilitation and/or neurological therapy.
  • Strong functional assessment and equipment prescription skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across a variety of clinical and community settings.
  • Excellent communication and MDT collaboration abilities.

 

Working Hours

 

  • Full-time hours.
