Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Connect Team Triage Service at Enfield Council, within North London Social Services. This locum role is community-based with an element of hybrid working and focuses on managing urgent cases through triage, assessment, and support planning. Moving and handling is a key part of the post, including home visits for assessment and follow-up. You will play a vital role in delivering timely, responsive occupational therapy interventions that promote independence and reduce risk for adults in the community.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage urgent referrals within the Connect Team triage service, including information gathering, assessment, and support planning.
- Undertake community-based occupational therapy assessments and follow-up visits.
- Complete moving and handling assessments and provide safe, practical recommendations to support independence.
- Make effective use of local authority, departmental, and independent resources to meet assessed needs.
- Maintain high standards of professional practice within your own caseload and workload management.
- Use advanced clinical skills and specialist knowledge to promote independence, choice, and control for service users.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of service provision through specialist practice.
- Ensure all work is carried out within a quality and equalities framework, in line with Council policies, performance targets, and professional standards.
About You
You are an experienced and confident Occupational Therapist with a strong background in adult social care and community-based practice. You will have excellent assessment, triage, and decision-making skills, along with solid experience in moving and handling. You are organised, responsive, and able to work effectively in fast-paced environments where managing urgent demand is essential. Your collaborative approach and commitment to high professional standards will support positive outcomes for residents.
Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Significant post-qualification experience within adult social care or community occupational therapy services.
- Strong experience in moving and handling assessments and risk management.
- Experience of urgent triage, assessment, and short-term intervention work.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a community and hybrid working model.
Contract & Salary
