Hand Therapist – Band 6 (Locum)

 

Location: Croydon Healthcare Services – Community

Area: South London NHS

Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (initial 6 months)

 

About the Role

 

Croydon Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced Band 6 Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to join their community outpatient service. You will join a vibrant, supportive team of Neurological Therapists and OTs, with regular opportunities to work closely with Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultants who run weekly clinics on site.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for a wide range of hand and wrist injuries and conditions.
  • Deliver rehabilitation for trauma and elective postoperative patients, including RA/OA, CRPS and other complex presentations.
  • Fabricate and adjust thermoplastic splints and deliver other splinting interventions as required.
  • Apply knowledge of wound management to support safe and effective recovery.
  • Manage an extensive and varied caseload autonomously, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
  • Work collaboratively within the hand therapy team and liaise with T&O Consultants and wider MDT colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HCPC and service standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
  • Broad experience in assessing and treating a range of hand and wrist conditions.
  • Strong splinting skills, including thermoplastic splinting.
  • Experience working with trauma and elective patients, as well as RA/OA and CRPS.
  • Knowledge of wound management principles.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to handle a high-volume caseload.
  • Strong communication and MDT collaboration skills.

 

Working Hours

 

  • Full-time or part-time hours available.
