Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: 3 Weeks (End of January 2026)

About the Role

Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Band 6 Specialist Community Occupational Therapist for a short-term contract within the Response and Rehabilitation Team. This fast-paced, integrated health and social care service supports adults—primarily older people—across a seven-day service model. The role requires a confident practitioner with strong rapid response experience and the ability to work autonomously in the community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions to a diverse caseload, primarily older adults living in the community.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and community partners to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.
  • Support timely interventions within a rapid response and rehabilitation model to prevent hospital admission and enhance independence.
  • Manage a community caseload autonomously, making clinical decisions independently and efficiently.
  • Contribute to weekend and Bank Holiday rotas as part of the seven-day service.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in line with Trust and HCPC professional standards.

Requirements

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience working in a community rapid response or rehabilitation setting.
  • Confident autonomous practitioner with strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Car driver ideal due to community-based travel requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with MDT colleagues and external partners.

Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Service operates 7 days per week, 08:00–20:00.
  • Weekend working and Bank Holidays included on rota.

Why Join?

  • Short-term, flexible locum role ideal for experienced community practitioners.
  • Work within an integrated, forward-thinking community service.
  • Opportunity to make an immediate impact in rapid response and rehabilitation.
  • Supportive MDT with strong patient-centred values.
