Area: South West Social Services

Rate: £Negotiable

About the Role

 

Cornwall Council is seeking an experienced Community Occupational Therapist to join their county-wide service. This role involves working autonomously within a complex and challenging community environment, supporting adults with disabilities to maximise their independence and reduce reliance on packages of care. The position requires regular face-to-face visits and the ability to travel across the county.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a diverse caseload of adults living in the community, using a client-centred approach to develop holistic, practical solutions to daily living challenges.
  • Advise, assess, plan, deliver and evaluate services that promote independence, safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight, direction and support to colleagues to facilitate multidisciplinary problem-solving.
  • Support the identification, planning and implementation of service development initiatives within the community.
  • Work collaboratively with health, social care, voluntary sector and local authority partners to coordinate effective support and interventions.
  • Maintain high professional standards in line with the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and organisational policies.
  • Undertake essential face-to-face visits and manage clinical priorities across a wide geographical area.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in community settings, ideally within Adult Social Care.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a dispersed county-wide team.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and reducing dependency on formal care packages.
