Brief Job Overview / Introduction to Role
We are recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join Powys County Council in Llandrindod Wells, Central Wales. This locum role involves providing professional Occupational Therapy services to clients of all ages and abilities living in the community. You will assess, plan, and implement interventions that support independence, safety, and wellbeing, in line with legal responsibilities and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
– Provide holistic assessments of individuals’ needs, including carers, across all ages and disabilities. – Develop, negotiate, monitor, and review care plans and interventions tailored to the client’s needs. – Assess and manage risks to clients and others while promoting independence. – Make decisions regarding eligibility for services in line with relevant legislation and ensure these are fully evidenced. – Promote equal opportunities, respect diversity, and support social inclusion for isolated or vulnerable individuals. – Minimise environmental barriers to safety and independence through practical interventions and adaptations. – Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and partner agencies to strengthen integrated service delivery. – Maintain accountability through accurate, timely recording of decisions, assessments, and interventions. – Practice in accordance with the standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
About You
You are a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience providing community-based services to individuals across all age groups. You have strong assessment and care planning skills, with the ability to manage risk while promoting independence. You value collaborative working, have excellent communication skills, and are committed to upholding professional and ethical standards.
Requirements
– Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification. – Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). – Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks guiding social care and Occupational Therapy practice. – Experience in holistic assessments, care planning, and interventions across all ages and disabilities. – Strong communication, collaboration, and multi-agency working skills. – Ability to maintain accurate records and demonstrate accountability in professional practice.
Contract & Salary
– Job Type: Locum – Contract Length: Ongoing – Salary: £35.56 per hour (Limited/Umbrella) – Location: Powys County Council, Llandrindod Wells, Central Wales
