Senior Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview / Introduction to Role
We are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join Nottingham City Council in the East Midlands. This locum role requires a minimum of one day per week at Loxley House, Nottingham, supporting adults and children with disabilities. You will lead and supervise a team of Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Community Care Officers, providing high-quality assessments, equipment provision, and major adaptations to maximise independence and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
– Deliver specialist Occupational Therapy services to disabled individuals and their families or carers, including assessments, care planning, equipment provision, and major adaptations. – Apply expert knowledge of Care Act legislation, including guidance on health and social care, housing, safeguarding, equipment, and adaptations. – Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of up to 8 practitioners, promoting professional governance, collaborative problem-solving, and high service performance. – Provide guidance and quality assurance, supporting less experienced colleagues in complex assessments and care planning, particularly in cases where safety is impacted by equipment or adaptations. – Actively contribute to service development, implementing best practice and innovative approaches to improve outcomes for service users. – Maintain professional standards in line with statutory, local authority, and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) requirements.
About You
You are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in adult and paediatric services, equipment provision, and home adaptations. You have proven leadership and mentoring experience and can manage and support a multi-disciplinary team. You demonstrate excellent knowledge of legislation affecting health and social care, and have the ability to drive service development and uphold professional standards.
Requirements
– Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification. – Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). – Extensive experience delivering Occupational Therapy services, including complex assessments, care planning, and equipment/adaptations provision. – Strong knowledge of Care Act legislation, safeguarding, and health and social care policies. – Leadership experience, supervising and mentoring a team of practitioners. – Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multi-agency collaboration skills. – Ability to provide high-level guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
Contract & Salary
– Job Type: Locum – Contract Length: Ongoing – Salary: £36 per hour – Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 09:00 – 17:00 – Location: Nottingham City Council, East Midlands
