Job Details:
Rutland County Council requires an Occupational Therapist to provide a range of interventions for adults and children referred to the service, supporting them to remain in their own homes with maximum independence. The role includes assessments, planning, and the provision of equipment and adaptations (including major adaptations and DFGs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess adults and children with disabilities to determine equipment and housing adaptation needs.

  • Undertake complex moving and handling risk assessments and develop management plans.

  • Ensure service users and carers are actively involved in assessments and support planning, including Direct Payments.

  • Provide solutions, including assistive technologies, and demonstrate safe use.

  • Maintain accurate assessment and case records; monitor and review support plans.

  • Update systems to support service delivery and collect statistical data.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, health, and social care professionals for seamless transitions.

  • Engage with developments in Adult Social Care and participate in professional development.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience in adult social work or adult health environments.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Understanding of the DFG process, housing adaptations, and relevant legislation.

  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and national health and social care agendas.

  • Ability to conduct holistic OT assessments and make sound professional judgments.

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and ability to work collaboratively.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in health and social care policies.

  • Organisational and time management skills to prioritise workload.

  • IT competency with spreadsheets, databases, and email.
