Job Details:
Tameside Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Community Occupational Therapist to join the Children with Disabilities Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service for children and young people with disabilities, complex health needs, or chronic illness.

• Assess the needs of disabled children and young people, including those with chronic and terminal illness, within the community.

• Formulate and implement intervention plans in complex cases to reduce the impact of disability and ill health.

• Ensure the voice of the child/young person and their families is central to all decision-making.

• Work collaboratively in a multi-agency context with Tameside MBC, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, and other agencies.

• Provide professional advice on disability equipment, adaptations, and manual handling.

• Carry out manual handling and ergonomic risk assessments, developing handling plans to support informal carers.

• Manage a complex caseload independently, demonstrating advanced problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills.

Requirements:

• HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.

• Previous experience working with children and young people with disabilities.

• Strong knowledge of community OT, housing adaptations, equipment provision, and moving & handling.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-agency team.
