Job details: Experienced Team Manager required for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team. The DoLS Team is a borough and system-wide service within Adult Social Care and plays a crucial role in ensuring residents’ legal rights are protected. The DoLS Team is responsible for ensuring that the Council meets its statutory responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Schedule A1 for residents residing in hospital and care homes where there is evidence, the person lacks mental capacity to consent to being accommodated there. The DoLS Team Manager will have a key focus on ensuring high standards of professional practice in the operational delivery of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The DoLS Team Manager will:

  • Ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities under DoLS to the highest standard in accordance with legal frameworks
  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the Council’s DoLS Team to ensure that it is responsive, legally compliant, high performing, and person centred
  • Provide managerial oversight and leadership of the DoLS Team ensuring that the team works collaboratively towards best practice
  • Ensure that the DoLS team maximises its resources whilst also looking to identify new ways of working in partnership with stakeholders
  • Hold responsibility for quality assuring and approving DoLS authorisations

Skills/experience:

  • A Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration, or equivalent
  • Relevant professional and Best Interests Assessor qualifications
  • Commitment to embodying Trafford’s EPIC values
  • Detailed working knowledge and experience of DoLS
  • Experience in leading and developing social work practice
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a staff team
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of professionals and external partners.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management and an ability to prioritise
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Hybrid role – 2 office days per week, one of which being a Tuesday
