Job details:  Occupational Therapist required for Project Work to reduce OT waiting list. To assess and make recommendations to customers aged 18 and over with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, physical frailty to maintain their independence in the community.  The post holder will have experiences in manual handling assessments and recommending appropriate equipment and adaptations. The post holder will work independently, manage their time and prioritise the workload effectively in response to competing demands with the support from management. Ideally the OT would work both remotely and carry out face to face visits in Derby if necessary. The service will consider applicants from outside the Derby area to work fully remotely completing telephone based assessments and or using video calls / use of digital media to complete assessments. Skills and personal qualities:
Effective and analytical assessment skills, making use of theory, evidence based practice and experiences.
Wide range of knowledge and experiences in assessment for equipment, and design major adaptation in home environment.
Experience in risk assessment includes manual handling assessment and risk management plan.
Working with multidisciplinary and external agencies to improve people’s home environment in order to enhance their quality of life.
Sufficient IT skills include inputting electronic social care records as required by department policy and procedures.
Good record keeping and understanding of Information Governance and Security.
Cope with pressure and deadlines, prioritise work demands and manage time effectively.
Appraise and resolve complex situations/problems and identify appropriate and cost-effective solutions.
Communicate effectively and establish rapport with the service users and their families.
Good interpersonal skills, being self-aware of own strengths and weakness, and contribute to team work.
Effective written and verbal communication skills include report writing, emails and letters.
Diffuse and resolve difficult situations and conflicts. Handle complaints in according to departmental policy.
Working hours: 37 hours per week.
