Job Title:  Occupational Therapist

Job details: 
Occupational Therapist required to work in the community, building relationships to support adults to maximise their independence. The team are seeking a person centred, professionally qualified and HCPC registered Occupational Therapist. The role will be for 3 months initially but may extend to 6 months. There is an experienced management team who are committed to good support, advice, supervision, and a nurturing team ethos.
The post holder will be supported in their role by a wider network of Occupational Therapists including a dedicated Occupational Therapy service manager and dedicated Occupational Therapy senior practitioners.
There will be opportunities to work across a variety of areas including safeguarding, complex health needs, moving and handling, learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge, duty team responses, assistive technology, hospital liaison, housing and major adaptations among others.
As part of the multi-disciplinary Adult Care Team, the post holder will be required to take a strength-based approach to deliver a proportionate, personalised, safe and sustainable response for local adults, their carers, and families.
A positive approach to risk taking, personal resilience and the ability to contribute to inter agency and multi-disciplinary approaches both across the council and in other statutory bodies are key to this role.
Skills/experience:

• Be registered with the HCPC.
• Have experience of working in a Local Authority.
• Have knowledge and/or experience of working within a person centred, holistic and strengths-based way.
• Have knowledge and/or experience in assessing a person’s activities of daily living.
• Have knowledge and/or experience of physical, learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions and the impact on occupational performance.
• Have knowledge and/or experience of equipment and adaptation solutions, and experience of DFG provision.
• Have the ability to manage and prioritise your casework.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with a wide range of partner professionals and agencies.
• Have good time management skills and be highly motivated.
• Have an understanding of statutory legislation that underpins Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention in adult social care and health.
• Be a reflective practitioner with a commitment to supervision and professional development working within relevant codes of conduct.
• Have knowledge and/or experience of safeguarding principles and how these are embedded in everyday practice.

Assisting disable people in independent living within the community, so that maximum independence in the physical, psychological, social and economic aspects of life are achieved. Providing and maintaining high standards of professional practice in the Area of Occupational Therapy service.
Working hours: 37 hours per week.
