Swindon Borough Council is currently recruiting a Locum Qualified Social Worker to join their fast-paced Assessment Team. This role involves completing timely assessments of children and families to identify support needs and safeguard those at risk, ensuring swift and appropriate interventions.
Key Responsibilities:

Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 assessments following referrals into children’s services

Make informed decisions regarding thresholds, safeguarding, and support requirements
-
Develop clear and outcome-focused plans based on assessment findings
-
Work in partnership with families and other professionals to achieve best outcomes for children
-
Attend and contribute to strategy discussions, case conferences, and planning meetings
-
Maintain accurate, high-quality case notes and reports in line with statutory requirements
Requirements:
-
SWE registration
-
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in frontline children’s social work
-
Strong knowledge of assessment frameworks, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation
-
Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
