Job details: Occupational Therapist required to support with a 6 months project around single handed care, reviewing care packages. Requires skills and experience of manual handling, specialist equipment, risk assessment and joint working with social care colleagues. Hybrid working. Flexibility needed to accommodate care calls, this could include early mornings. JD available on request:
- This postholder will work effectively as a member of the Community Occupational Therapy service based in the First Contact team and will provide occupational therapy for customers within the community, undertaking and reviewing assessments of customers in conjunction with other professionals. Ensuring casework is carried out in an appropriate and timely fashion.
- The post holder will support the Council’s statutory duties in relation to Adult Social Care, ensuring that the principles of ‘Prevent, Reduce & Delay’ are applied at all times including a focus on strengthbased approaches to assessment and support.
- The role will assess customers and their carer’s needs, helping to identify and set goals to increase their independence and prevent the need for longer term services. As well as providing professional advice and guidance in methods of overcoming issues of daily living by using new techniques to aid rehabilitation. The post holder will demonstrate skills and knowledge in equipment, adaptions and moving and handling principles. They will undertake assessments autonomously contribute to safeguarding, mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions.
- This role must be able to work effectively as part of a team and along with a range of agencies and professionals, and using appropriate interventions, values, and knowledge base to work with adults and their carers to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Travel is an essential part of this job and although being a car user is not essential, the expectation would be that postholders can travel across the borough, within a reasonable timescale.
