View JobIntroduction:
Sandwell Council is seeking skilled and committed Child Protection and Assessment Social Workers to join our frontline safeguarding service. You will be at the forefront of protecting vulnerable children through timely assessments, robust interventions, and effective multi-agency work. We are a council that values its workforce and offers strong supervision, manageable caseloads, and real career development.
Key Responsibilities:

Complete timely statutory assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 investigations, in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Make evidence-based decisions regarding risk and next steps, including child protection plans, early help, or escalation to legal proceedings.

Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies, ensuring the child’s voice is central to all planning and intervention.

Prepare and present high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, court, and other statutory meetings.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England
-
Experience in assessment and safeguarding roles
-
Strong understanding of legislation, thresholds, and best practice in child protection
-
Excellent written and verbal communication, risk analysis, and teamworking skills
