The Adults Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing occupational therapy interventions for adult patients with a range of physical, mental, and social challenges. The role involves working collaboratively with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to support patients in achieving greater independence and improving their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ functional abilities, occupational needs, and environmental factors.
Develop and implement personalised treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient-centred goals.
Deliver therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing patients’ abilities in activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, and other meaningful activities.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, and carers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Provide education and training to patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and home modifications to promote independence.
Monitor and document patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Advise on and facilitate the provision of assistive devices and adaptive technology to support patient independence.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and care planning sessions.
Stay informed about current best practices in occupational therapy and integrate new techniques into patient care where appropriate.
