Occupational Therapist

Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Suffolk Social Services. This position focuses on supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs through proactive assessments, reviews, and intervention planning across the Directorate.
The Occupational Therapist will support waiting list reduction initiatives, deliver front-line occupational therapy services, and work collaboratively with health and social care teams to promote independence, safe care, and effective use of resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and timely occupational therapy assessments and reviews across the Directorate.
- Support adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs.
- Undertake proactive reviews and assessments to support waiting list reduction.
- Assist with triage processes and reduce duplication between health and social care services.
- Support external care providers with safe moving and handling practices.
- Review care packages to ensure effective and best-value support provision.
- Review double-handed care packages, waking night support, and ongoing care arrangements.
- Recommend and review equipment provision to maximise independence and safety.
- Provide mutual aid and support to other occupational therapy areas when required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in line with organisational and professional standards.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
social care services and experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities,
autism, and/or mental health needs.
You will demonstrate excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills, alongside the ability to manage
caseloads effectively within fast-paced community and social care environments.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience within social care occupational therapy services.
- Experience working with learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health services.
- Manual handling experience (essential).
- Strong communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary working skills.
- Ability to work effectively within hybrid and community-based settings.

- Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2-3 days office based / 2 days home working
