    Job Overview

    We are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, based at Corsebar Road, Paisley, within the Southern Scotland NHS. This locum role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality occupational therapy services within a supportive and collaborative team environment.  

     

    The successful candidate will deliver assessments, interventions, and rehabilitation programmes to support patients in achieving independence and improving their quality of life across community and/or inpatient settings, depending on service needs.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    – Conduct holistic occupational therapy assessments to identify patients’ physical, functional, and environmental needs.  

    – Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans to promote independence and wellbeing.  

    – Recommend and coordinate equipment provision or environmental adaptations to support safe and independent living.  

    – Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, including physiotherapists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure joined-up care.  

    – Support discharge planning and facilitate safe, timely transitions from hospital to home or community services.  

    – Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with NHS and HCPC professional standards.  

    – Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.  

     

    About You

    You’ll be a compassionate and proactive Occupational Therapist with proven post-qualification NHS experience. You’ll demonstrate strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills, along with the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.  

     

    You’ll have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a commitment to promoting independence, recovery, and high-quality patient-centred care.

     

    Requirements

    – Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy  

    – Current HCPC registration  

    – Relevant post-qualification experience within the NHS (essential)  

    – Experience in community, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings (desirable)  

    – Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and communication skills  

    – Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team  

     

    Contract & Salary

    Contract type: Locum  

    Contract length: Ongoing  

    Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (may vary)  

    Location: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde – Corsebar Road, Paisley (Southern Scotland NHS)  

    Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
